Golf and Water Conservation

Water conservation in golf is a hot topic and whit the current global warming, a topic that becomes extremely important in the near future. Between-us recently found in a pilot with five Catalan golf courses, that courses can save up to €550.000,- per year on water use, independent of reputational effects. Time to ask long-time expert in sustainable golf and chairman of the International Sustainability Council, Mr. Ronald G. Dodson for his opinion:

The Dutch

The Dutch is an International Golf Club situated in a stunning location in the ‘Green Hart’ of The Netherlands next to the village of Spijk (just 4 kms from Gorinchem and 30 minutes drive east of Rotterdam) with good access to all other major towns and cities throughout the country and central Europe. The Belas Clube de Campo is part of the André Jordan Group, a Portuguese family company that has been active on golf and tourism since the early 1970’s. From the start, sustainability has been part of the DNA of the company and more and more of the sustainable initiatives are being recognized.

Real Club de Golf El Prat

The Real Club de Golf El Prat Golf course comprising of 45 holes and designed by Greg Norman is set in beautiful rolling countryside on the outskirts of Barcelona and is a test for any golfer.

Golf Sant Joan

Golf Sant Joan is a Golf Course located between Sant Cugat del Valllès and Rubí, only 20 minutes far from Barcelona. Golf Sant Joan has all the facilities to provide a very pleasant Golf experience. The Course was design by Severiano Ballesteros, three times british open winner and the most important Golfer in Spain. It has 18 holes, with a total distance of 6.046 meters and PAR 72. The width of its fairways and the challenges of the holes turn Golf Sant Joan into one of the most complete courses in Spain.

PGA Catalunya Resort

PGA Catalunya Resort's internationally known courses are the ultimate Spanish golfing experience. Two courses - the Stadium and Tour Course - are architectural masterpieces of golf with fairways bordered by dense, mature forests, ever-present water and far-reaching views.

Lumine Golf

LUMINE Mediterránea Beach&Golf Community is a golfers’ paradise. Everything here is green: 170 hectares devoted to three golf courses with the 45 newest holes in Spain and two club-houses. Each of these courses gives the player a different experience. Emporda Golf

Hilversumsche Golf Course

Founded in 1910, the Hilversumsche Golf Club is one of the most distinguished clubs in the Netherlands. It is a ‘links style’ heathland course with a rich history. The current location at the Soestdijkerstraatweg in Hilversum was acquired in 1917. Henry Burrows initially designed a nine holes course and in 1923 the International Dutch Championship was played here for the first time (and won by Henry Burrows himself!). In 1928 the course was expanded to 18 holes further to a design of the well known architect Sir Harry Colt. Sir Guy Campbell made further modifications, most notably to the par fives, in the early 1950s. Recently Kyle Phillips remodelled various holes including a major renewal and redesign of several greens aimed at restoring specific Colt characteristics of the course.

Lübker Golf Resort

All your golfing skills and experience will be needed to beat the Robert Trent Jones II golf courses at Lübker Golf Resort. The courses are challenging, but by far the best golfing experience in Denmark. 36 holes are immaculately manicured every morning to give the perfect conditions just begging to be played. This took Lübker directly to the number 14 spot in Golf World’s Top 100 list of Continental Europe golf courses for 2010.
